Silk Painting: Hand-Painted Silk Scarf

Join fibre artist Eliza Casey to learn the ancient craft of painting on silk. Eliza will walk participants through the process of stretching silk on a frame, sketching/transferring a design onto the silk, mixing dye colours, and painting a scarf. This workshop is for complete beginners and there will be a chance to practice new skills and design before moving on to the final project - your very own hand-painted scarf!

Note that this is a full-day workshop - lunch in not included, although light refreshments will be served.
The following topics will be covered during the workshop:
- Methods for stabilizing and stretching silk on wood frames
- Introduction to different silk fabrics and dyes
- How to transfer a pattern to silk and use resists|
- Colour mixing and ways to dilute dyes
- Information about steam setting dyes
📅 Date and Time: Saturday, October 27 from 9:30 - 4:00 PM with a one-hour break for lunch.

🍷 Food and Drink: Food and drinks are available at the Alley restaurant in the complex. Participants are responsible for their own lunch.
